Heat Sheets
The heat sheet is a document indicating what events swimmers will swim in a particular meet. (Please note: events will also be accessible via the Swimtopia app). Heat sheets will be distributed via email by the coach or swim team representative prior to a swim meet. You will need to print the heat sheet, as they are not sold at the meets. There are 70 events in a swim meet but there can be multiple heats in certain events. The list follows the order of events, with the youngest children swimming first in each event and the girls swimming first in all events. Find your child’s name and highlight the event number, stroke, heat number and lane number.
Events are usually seeded fastest to slowest recorded times, with the fastest swimming first.
The order of events will be:
- Shrimps (6 & Under) - Freestyle
- Medley Relay: 4 Swimmers each swimming a different stroke in this order: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle
- Freestyle
- Backstroke
- 100 IM - Individual Medley: 25 meters of each stroke in order: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle
- Breaststroke
- Butterfly
- Free Relay: 4 swimmers each swim 25 or 50 meters of freestyle
Shrimps, 7-8’s and 9-10’s swim one length of the pool (25 yards or meters). 11 and Up swimmers swim two lengths of the pool for events. The individual medley is for 9 & Up swimmers, swimming each of the four strokes one length of the pool. The coach is responsible for scheduling all races for the swimmers. Each swimmer may enter 3 individual events and 2 relays, and can swim up in an additional relay, if needed.
Know your events: Swimmers are encouraged to record their events on their arm with a sharpie pen. Write the event #/heat#/lane # and event name (i.e. 22/1/3 free, 43/2/2 fly, etc). This allows timers, clerk of course, and shepherds to keep track of your children and ensure they end up in the correct lane and heat.
